Researchers have safely transplanted stem cells derived from a patient's skin to the back of the eye in an effort to restore vision. The research is being presented at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) this week in Seattle, Wash.

ALL-ROUNDER Mitchell Marsh will return home from the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a side strain and will be assessed ahead of Australia’s tour of the West Indies next month, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Sunday.

Du Plessis ruled out of IPL with broken finger

Rising Pune Supergiants batsman Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL with a broken finger. Du Plessis tweeted the news on Thursday.

Du Plessis is Supergiants' second-highest run-scorer with 206 runs at an average of 34.33 in six matches. He scored consecutive fifties against Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab, both of which came in losing causes.

In a blow to Rising Pune Supergiants' unimpressive season so far, their batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2016. Pietersen, who had injured his right calf against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, announced he would not take further part in the tournament via his Instagram account.

Pietersen had come out to bat at No. 3 in the second over against Royal Challengers, and faced only one ball before he retired hurt and had to be carried off the field. He attempted a single but hurt his calf muscle after turning to get back into his crease.
